SancShoery is a soft and playful shoerack that transforms the everyday act of removing shoes into a mindful ritual. Designed to encourage slowing down, it responds to users with sensory  cues—chimes, soft lighting, and calming music—creating a transition from movement to stillness.

When a user passes by without removing their shoes, SancShoery plays a gentle chime as a reminder. Sitting on its cushioned top triggers a warm glow and soothing ambient sounds, inviting users to pause and relax.

Prototyping was essential in shaping the final design. Early low-fidelity experiments, such as using vacuums and wind for playful interactions, allowed the team to test engagement methods. As the fidelity increased, Arduino-powered sensors refined the experience, making interactions more fluid and intuitive. This process reinforced the idea that meaningful design emerges from continuous exploration, iteration, and the ability to translate abstract concepts into tangible interactions.

Early explorations included concepts inspired by Dance Dance Revolution and a modular LEGO-style rack, allowing users to build their own structure. However, the themes of softness and playfulness needed to be embodied in the experience itself, not just the form. The final design drew inspiration from a simple macramé touch interaction made with paper, which informed the sensory-driven and responsive nature of SancShoery
